The Chief Inspector of Mines, under section 49(6) of the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 (Act No. 29 of 1996) and after consultation with the Council, has issued the guideline for the compilation of a mandatory code of practice for an occupational health program (occupational hygiene and medical surveillance ) on personal exposure to airborne pollutants in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act, as set out in the Schedule.
