The Department of Transport, in terms of section 79 of the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act No. 93 of 1996) (NRTA) provides amongst others that the Minister of Transport (Minister) may, in exercising a discretion or taking a decision in terms of this Act, take cognisance of the information contained in National Traffic Information System (NaTIS), the official register of a Traffic Register Number (TRN) issued in terms of Regulation 335 of the NRTA.
A comprehensive joint verification exercise conducted by the Department of Transport and the Department of Home Affairs confirmed that certain TRNs issued in the period 1 January 2000 to 30 June 2023 are dormant. TRNs issued in this period, unless confirmed active as per the process set out in this notice, will be cancelled 30 days from date of publication of this Notice.
Holders of the TRNs in the dormant list as published on the website are hereby called upon to submit representation within 30 (Thirty) working days from the date of publication of this notice.
