The Chief Inspector of Mines, under section 49(6) of the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 (Act No. 29 of 1996) after consultation with the Mine Health and Safety Council has issued the Guideline for the Compilation of a Mandatory Code of Practice for the Prevention of Flammable Gas Explosions in Mines other than Coal Mines in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act, as set out in the Schedule.
The Guideline comes into effect on 1 May 2021.
